İlk Decathlon mağazası 1976 yılında Fransa’nın Lille kentinde açılmıştır.
1986 yılında ise Decathlon markalı ürünler tasarlamak ve üretmek amacıyla Asya’da ilk Decathlon Üretim ofisi kurulmuştur. 1997 yılında ilk tutku markaları olan Tribord ve Quechua dünyaya gelmiştir.
2008 yılında ise farklı satış konseptlerini ve üretimi aynı çatı altında toplamak amacıyla Oxylane Group kuruldu. Oxylane Group bugün 60 farklı ülkede 40.000'i aşan çalışanıyla ürün tasarımı, üretimi ve satışı amacıyla faaliyet göstermektedir.
